Jan Váňa was born in Prague, Czech Republic. During his studies at the Dance Conservatory of Prague he danced with the National Theater in Prague. After graduation in 2006 he became member of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine. In 2011, five years after he joined the ballet company, he was promoted to principal dancer. Among the companies with whom Jan Váňa has danced are National Opera of Prague, National Theater of Baku, Azerbaijan state academic opera and ballet theater, Teatro Argentino La Plata, and Ukrainian state theaters in Kharkyv, Donetsk, Dnipro. In 2017 was awarded by state honorary title “Merited Artist of Ukraine” for outstanding achievement in the performing arts. With the ballet company he was touring in Brazil, China, Mexico and as well as overseas in Japan, South Korea and Canada.
